San Juan, Batangas, Philippines

I hit the beach this weekend. It was a four to five hour drive and it rained, but luckily, I happen to enjoy gloomy weather. We stayed at a little resort called Sabangan which is right by the water so it was perfect.

My aunt cooked spaghetti, my uncle busted out the alcohol, my cousin spent the night in a hammock in front of our cabin, and my other cousin and I watched YouTube videos all night.

The next day, we hit the water, but I promised my father via text message that I’d come back alive so I stayed safe by the shore as the waves kept coming in heavier. It rained the entire time, but hey, it was the beach and we were already wet, so what’s the point of going inside?

On the way home, we stopped by San Juan Nepomuceno Church. Yeah, that’s right bitches, this is MY church. XD According to my grandfather, our family descended from a Spanish priest. I happen to know that San Juan Nepomuceno IS NOT that Spanish priest because…

  1. St. John of Nepomuk was Bohemian. No really, he came from Bohemia which is modern day Czech Republic. (Note to self, seek out his tomb in Prague in September)
  2. The Spanish took over the Philippines about two centuries after his death.

So, anyway, the jury is still out on the validity of my Spanish ancestry, but it’s always a fun story to tell considering that it is fact that many Spanish priests “fell into temptation” during the occupation.
